Currently, the Public Safety Center is staffed by a Special Assignment Sergeant, three deputies from the Hawaiian Gardens SAO Team, and two Community Service Assistants (CSA).

The Public Safety Center is also utilized by Hawaiian Gardens patrol deputies to contact citizens for report calls, write reports, and conduct interviews with citizens.

The City of Hawaiian Gardens provides general law enforcement, traffic enforcement, crime investigation and Special Assignment Officers. Deputies assigned to patrol units perform basic duties such as:

* Arrest criminals
* Collect evidence
* Interview suspects and witnesses
* Monitor any suspicious activity
* Respond to citizen's questions and complaints
* Respond to radio calls
* Respond to the scene of a crime or an accident
* Write crime reports

The Special Assignment Officers (S.A.O.) team is a group of highly trained personnel that are tasked with handling a variety of public safety and quality of life issues for the city of Hawaiian Gardens. The team conducts various operations, which include probation searches, parole searches, search warrants, Section 8 compliance checks, DUI checkpoints to name but a few. Team members also participate in a multitude of city functions and events.
