VISITING

Effective February 28, 2013, MCJ will only be open for Public Visiting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday ONLY. We will no longer conduct Public Visiting on Thursdays.

Visiting Hours:
Friday 10am – 3pm and 5pm – 7pm
Saturday – Sunday 7am-3pm

Members of the general public may visit inmates at any Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department jail facility. Visiting hours vary and are subject to change without prior notice. Inmates are provided with at least two visits totaling at least one hour per week. At Men's Central Jail (MCJ), inmates receive two thirty (30) minute visits per week totaling one hour. A total of three (3) visitors are allowed per inmate; 2 adults with 1 minor or 1 adult and 2 minors.

Registration:
All visitors must register in the Inmate Visitation System prior to scheduling an appointment or attending a "Walk-In" visit. Register at visit.lasd.org or at a self-serve kiosk located at participating visitation centers.

Scheduled Appointments

Effective 09/10/2012 "High-Powered" inmate visits are available by appointment only; "walk-in" visits will no longer be an option. For General Population inmates, scheduled or "walk-in" visits are accepted.

On-Line Appointments:
In order to schedule an appointment on-line at visit.lasd.org you must be registered with an email address; otherwise you may schedule an appointment using one of our self-serve kiosks at participating visitation centers or in person at a visiting counter.

Check-In Time:
All registered visitors with a scheduled appointment must arrive (1) one hour before their visit for check-in. You must bring your visit confirmation number/receipt, proper ID for every person in your group. Store all personal items in the outside lockers before lining up outside the visiting center. Visiting officers will announce when to enter the visiting center for the check-in process. If you do not show up for your visit, it will be automatically cancelled and counted against the inmates visiting quota.

If anyone arrives late, please inform an officer immediately of your scheduled appointment as the visit is now subject to cancellation. Due to the volume of visits at MCJ, we will try to accommodate as best as possible to re-schedule your visit for another time block on the same day or other date/time.

Cancellations:
Scheduled appointments are subject to cancellation at any time due to housing re-assignments, court appearances, or discipline housing restrictions. Visits cannot be cancelled on the day of your visit.

Same Day "Walk-In" Visits

"Walk-In" visits are available on a first come, first served limited basis and are subject to availability.

You must bring proper ID for every visitor, complete a visitors pass, and store all personal items in the outside lockers before lining up outside. Visiting officers will announce when to enter the visiting center.

Parking and Locker Storage:

Public parking is available at the visitor parking structure for $8.00
All personal property must be stored in lockers outside vising for $0.25

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Men's Central Jail is committed to providing the public with a safe, secure and pleasant environment where inmate visits are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and facility policies. Please call the Inmate Information Center at (213) 473-6100 prior to your arrival at Men's Central Jail to determine if the inmate you intend to visit is allowed a visit and if there are any special restrictions on their visiting privilege. Generally if an inmate is attending court on any given day they will not be allowed a visit for that day.
